About Me

I’ve spent the best part of the last decade working long hours and burying my head in revision in pursuit of a career I love. I’ve always had a passion for traveling the world and experiencing London’s best offerings but time has always been the rate limiting step. In the last couple of years, I’ve finished my medical training after an eleven year slog, done my final exam, found myself a new job as a London GP, married the love of my life (Pumpkin) and moved house! This has finally freed up some time and I’ve never been more keen to make the most of it. I initially started this blog as a journal to chronicle my travels and capture new experiences and activities in the city I love but I hope you’ll enjoy reading it, as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.

Aww thank you so much for the kind words Molly and for the nomination. I’ll start working on writing a post for this soon & I too could eat Nutella straight out of the jar!

  9. I love your nickname of Pumpkin for the husband. Cute! I bet there is a story behind that.

    1. Shikha (whywasteannualleave) October 9, 2014 — 3:08 pm

Hehe, there actually isn’t a specific story behind it – I think he really can’t stand that it’s become so public but I’ve always had a habit of giving him food-related nicknames and since the early days of knowing him, this was the one that stuck! 😀

  10. Very fun blog, love the diversity of subjects and places you’ve been!

    1. Shikha (whywasteannualleave) January 21, 2015 — 9:15 pm

Thanks so much! Didn’t realise you were a fellow medic Ash – good luck and don’t despair, I know it seems like the journey takes forever but you’ll get there in the end and it’s worth it when you do 🙂 And yes, if you love to travel, you can absolutely still travel and write alongside the job, I just try and squeeze out the most out of my annual leave (hence the name!)
